About the Competition

The ADC-ICC Asia-Pacific Commercial Mediation Competition is the region's leading student commercial mediation competition.

Run by the Australian Disputes Centre and the International Chamber of Commerce, it draws teams from across Australia, Asia, the South Pacific, India, the Americas and Africa. Competitors apply negotiation skills in a realistic commercial mediation setting, working through problems drawn from real international commercial disputes — mediated by qualified professionals and adjudicated by a senior panel of ADR practitioners.

In 2026, Western Sydney University is competing in the 10th annual competition, held online from 28 to 30 August.

A Place Reserved

A pathway to Paris

The APCMC is closely tied to the ICC International Commercial Mediation Competition in Paris. Universities that excel can earn a reserved place at the 22nd ICC Mediation Competition in 2027 — the world's largest moot devoted exclusively to international commercial mediation.

How It Works

Inside a round

The competition follows the format of the ICC Mediation Competition, recreating a realistic commercial mediation.

Teams represent two sides of an international commercial dispute, in the roles of client and counsel.
Problems are written by professional mediators and based on real international commercial disputes.
A qualified professional mediator runs each session.
A senior panel of ADR practitioners assesses how well each team advances its interests.
Rounds run online across the three days, building to the grand final.
